This medical volunteer placement places participants in rural hospitals and clinics in Ghana where they assist local doctors and nurses under supervision. Volunteers can work across multiple departments including Accident & Emergency, Pediatrics, Maternity, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, Surgery, Dentistry, OPD and Nursing.
Typical duties include accompanying doctors on rounds, taking patient histories, basic patient care (e. g. , changing bandages, checking blood pressure), observing procedures, and supporting health education and community outreach programs.
Volunteers typically work five days a week from around 08:00 to 13:00-13:30, with flexible shift options and the possibility to rotate between departments to gain broader experience. Placements are described as suitable for both people with medical backgrounds and those without; basic English is required.
The project is located in rural communities (Wale Wale and Navorongo in the Northern Region) with accommodation available in a volunteer house or with local host families. Airport pickup (Kotoka International Airport, Accra) is provided.
