This two-week Medicine Academy at the University of California, Berkeley is an immersive summer program for motivated high school students (ages 14-18) exploring careers in medicine and allied health. Through hands-on simulations and expert-led sessions, participants practice clinical skills such as suturing, dissection, trauma response and clinical diagnostics, and engage in case studies and team-based activities.
The program includes a capstone project where students research and present on a chosen medical career path.
Students have access to UC Berkeley simulation labs and campus facilities, small interactive classes, and instructors drawn from Berkeley academic staff (including the UC BerkeleyUCSF Joint Medical Program). Residential (boarding) and day options are available; tuition typically includes academic tuition, housing (for residential programs), meals, planned activities and some local transport.
International students receive visa support, arrival assistance, and optional airport shuttles (additional fees may apply). A supplemental materials fee is required for lab work.
