Fancy shaping the future with precise measurement? Join AWE's Metrology Apprenticeship to train in the Skills Academy, use industry-grade tools and software, rotate across teams and build technical skills that boost your career or uni prospects.

Metrology is the science of measurement and this apprenticeship teaches how to apply core measurement principles in real-world environments. You will learn to use measurement tools, instrumentation and software to plan and carry out precise measurement tasks, supporting product quality and reliability.

Practical training begins in AWE's Skills Academy where you will build core knowledge and technical skills before rotating through different areas across AWE. Alongside workplace experience you will study at the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) in London on a block release basis, working towards the Level 3 Metrology Technician apprenticeship.

On successful completion you will be eligible for professional registration as an EngTech or RSciTech.

The role is based at AWE sites with study at NPL. AWE operates a nine-day fortnight (every other Friday off) and provides 270 hours of annual leave. This apprenticeship is suited to candidates who enjoy problem-solving, working with data, and performing practical tasks accurately.
