Want hands-on creative experience and free studio time? Join St Michael’s Printshop as a volunteer - run events, learn live printing, build photography/video skills, help with markets and equipment, and earn reciprocal studio access by contributing 10 hours a month.
St. Michael’s Printshop offers a variety of volunteer roles to support events and the running of the printshop. Typical tasks include studio monitoring, live printing, market tabling, cleaning, moving and setting up equipment, directing event visitors, and handling cash boxes/payments.
Volunteers with specific skills in photography or video are especially welcomed. Volunteers can access studio time through a reciprocal arrangement: by contributing ten volunteer hours per month, participants are granted a level of studio access that allows them to make art independently or attend workshops for free.
There are also opportunities to join committees (Programming, Studio, Fundraising, Human Resources, Anti-Oppression) which require attending meetings and helping plan and run activities. Longer-term governance roles are available through the Board of Directors, which is a valued volunteer position that typically requires a two-year commitment.

Location
- Volunteers who wish to receive studio access must complete ten hours of volunteer work per month to be granted studio time or free workshop access.
- Committee members are expected to attend meetings and participate in events and planning activities.
- Board of Directors applicants must be willing to commit to a two-year term; the board is artist-led and the majority of board members must be artists.
- Applicants with specific skills (especially photography or video) are encouraged to state these skills when applying.
