Apply NowWant to lift your ballet to vocational level? Join RCS’s five-day Modern Ballet summer school to sharpen classical technique, pointework and contemporary repertoire, train with School of Dance staff and guest teachers, and boost your skills for auditions and training pathways.
This five-day, in-person summer school (Modern Ballet: Senior/Vocational) is for young people aged approximately 14 and over who wish to strengthen and develop classical ballet technique, repertoire and contemporary dance. The course is aimed at students who aspire to or are currently in vocational dance training and includes daily classical technique classes with pointework and virtuosity.
Students attend structured classes led by RCS School of Dance staff and guest teachers, covering classical repertoire, contemporary dance, solos, creative/choreography and conditioning. Classes are accompanied by pianists/percussionists.
Photographs by a professional ballet photographer are offered for use in audition applications or portfolios.
The course runs at the Wallace Studios at Speirs Locks in Glasgow. It is offered in two separate weeks (attendees may book one or both weeks) with daily hours of 10:00-16:00. Course fees do not include accommodation or meals; accommodation at local providers (e.
g. , Base Glasgow) is recommended and must be organised by the student. To apply, students must submit a short ballet video via YouTube link and specified photos to juniorsdance@rcs.

- Approx. 14+ (Secondary 3 and upwards in the year 2025-26).
- Previous ballet experience is essential.
- Working at approximately Advanced Foundation level or equivalent and above in ballet (strong Intermediate/Advanced level recommended).
- Students should be at a level of fitness to participate fully in a highly practical course.
£375
£375 for one week; £680 for two weeks. Course fees do not include accommodation or food. Accommodation options (e.g., Base Glasgow) are recommended and must be arranged separately. Travel insurance is recommended; RCS will not refund in the event of COVID-19 related cancellations.
