Peterborough Skills Academy
Apply NowReady to turn wrench time into a career? Join the Level 3 Light Vehicle apprenticeship at Peterborough Skills Academy to build hands-on diagnostic and repair skills, gain IMI accreditation and work experience, and fast-track your route into automotive careers.
This is a three-year (typically 36 months) Level 3 Light Vehicle (LMV) apprenticeship accredited by the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI). Apprentices develop practical and diagnostic skills across all vehicle systems, from routine servicing and simple repairs through to complex fault diagnosis using workshop diagnostic equipment.
Training blends on-the-job experience with formal off-the-job learning.
Delivery is a mix of practical and theory sessions: apprentices attend the PSA training centre for structured training (approximately 2 days per month) and work with an employer at their workplace the remainder of the time. An assessor visits the workplace every three months to review progress and support the apprentice and workplace mentor.
Apprentices must complete an electronic portfolio with written and photographic evidence, witness testimonies, and assessor observations.
Entry requirements and logistics: learners must be over 16, live in England and not be in full-time education. Apprentices who lack grade 4 GCSE (or equivalent) in English and maths will complete Level 2 Functional Skills as part of the programme (PSA provides these).
PPE such as overalls, safety boots and gloves are required. PSA operates a roll-on, roll-off enrolment model so applications can be accepted throughout the year.
Level 3 Light Vehicle (LMV) Apprenticeship, IMI-accredited
Apprenticeship funding: fully government funded for those aged 16-21. For apprentices aged 22+, a 5% employer co-investment is required (employer contribution). For funding enquiries contact hello@psatraining.org.uk.
