Apply NowThe Murray Edwards College STEP Summer School is a free, four-day programme designed to prepare Year 12 students for the Sixth Term Examination Paper (STEP), which is required by some competitive undergraduate Mathematics courses including Cambridge. The programme focuses on deep mathematical understanding and problem-solving confidence to help students tackle STEP-style questions.
Activities include small-group STEP workshops, one-to-one style supervisions mirroring Cambridge teaching, lectures and enrichment talks, a Cambridge admissions talk, and social events such as a quiz night and a formal dinner. The summer school aims to provide tailored academic support alongside a supportive environment to build both skills and belonging.
The programme is fully funded for attendees: all 50 participants receive free meals and accommodation. It is specifically aimed at young women and non-binary students in Year 12 who are preparing for STEP and considering applying to study Mathematics at university.
