Help shape exhibitions, activities and programmes for young visitors, working on real projects with museum professionals across both museums. Meet monthly, get behind-the-scenes insight and bring your ideas to museum decision-making.
The Museum of English Rural Life and Reading Museum Youth Panel offers young people aged 14 to 18 collective work experience opportunities across both museums as part of Museums Partnership Reading’s youth programme. Panel members meet monthly to work on a variety of projects, helping shape activity, exhibitions and programming so that the museums are relevant and engaging for young visitors.
The panel is designed to give participants a voice in museum decision-making while building confidence, creativity and practical experience in a cultural setting.
Members gain behind-the-scenes insight into how museums work, collaborating with museum professionals on real projects and developing transferable skills they can use in CVs, UCAS applications and job applications. The role also provides a chance to meet new people and contribute ideas to current work.
Meetings usually take place on the third Thursday of each month, either online or in person, and interested young people can email the team to find out about the current project and how to get involved.
