Young speakers go head-to-head in a structured parliamentary debate at the House of Lords, drawing on personal testimony, historical insight and ideas for carrying the Windrush legacy forward. An audience Q&A lets you put questions to both sides before voting on the most compelling argument.
In collaboration with the Amos Bursary, the National Windrush Museum presents a youth parliamentary debate at the House of Lords. The event brings together young voices to reflect on the Windrush experience, celebrate the achievements of the Windrush Generations, and explore the work being done to carry that legacy forward.
The evening is designed as a structured debate between two opposing sides rather than a standard discussion. Each side presents its case using personal testimony, historical insight and forward-looking ideas, creating a lively and thoughtful exchange for everyone in the room.
After the debate, the audience will have the chance to ask questions in a Q&A session and then vote on which side made the most compelling argument. The event is aimed at students, cultural leaders, policymakers and members of the Windrush community who want to hear young people speak with confidence about heritage, identity and the future.
