Spend time in a parliamentary or constituency office and get an insight into local politics through practical tasks. You could research issues, draft press releases, accompany the MP to meetings or events, or answer constituents’ queries by phone or email.
Dr Neil Hudson offers work experience opportunities to students from the constituency. The placement is designed to give young people an insight into local politics and a chance to build their skills while spending time in a parliamentary or constituency office setting.
Students may help with a range of practical tasks, including casework, researching issues, taking press cuttings, writing press releases, accompanying the MP to meetings or events in the House or in the constituency, assisting with office duties, and answering queries from constituents by phone or email. The exact tasks may vary depending on the student’s age and ability.
Anyone interested is invited to contact the office to enquire about work experience opportunities.
