Research local issues, track press cuttings and draft press releases while supporting office work. Depending on your age and ability, you could also help with casework or accompany the MP to meetings or events.
Dr Neil Shastri-Hurst offers work experience opportunities for students from the constituency. The placement is designed to give young people an insight into local politics and a chance to build their skills in a professional setting.
Participants may support a range of day-to-day tasks, including researching issues, taking press cuttings, writing press releases, assisting with office duties, and answering constituent queries by phone or email. Depending on the student's age and ability, they may also help with casework and accompany the MP to meetings or events in the House or in the constituency.
Interested students should contact the office to enquire about a placement.
