The Network Engineer is offered as the Network Engineer pathway of the Level 6 Digital and Technology Solutions Degree Apprenticeship at the University of Gloucestershire. Apprentices combine full-time employment with university study, undertaking at least 6 hours per week of off-the-job training and completing a three-year, coursework-based programme with weekly day release.
The programme is accredited by TechSkills and leads to a BSc (Hons) in Digital and Technology Solutions.
Learners specialise from Year 2 with pathway-specific modules such as Network Design and Configuration, and Advanced Networking & Security in Year 3. The apprenticeship includes supervised work-based projects, a synoptic end-point assessment composed of a project and a presentation, and practical training in the university's computing and cyber security labs at Park Campus, Cheltenham.
Apprentices receive learner support including a personal tutor, learner coach, and apprenticeship support for employers. Learner benefits include access to university facilities, an NUS card, and discounted travel with Stagecoach across the South West network.
Employers may set additional entry requirements and apprentices must be employed for the apprenticeship duration.
