The Network Engineer is offered as the Network Engineer pathway of the Level 6 Digital and Technology Solutions Degree Apprenticeship at the University of Gloucestershire. Apprentices combine full-time employment with university study, undertaking at least 6 hours per week of off-the-job training and completing a three-year, coursework-based programme with weekly day release.

The programme is accredited by TechSkills and leads to a BSc (Hons) in Digital and Technology Solutions.

Learners specialise from Year 2 with pathway-specific modules such as Network Design and Configuration, and Advanced Networking & Security in Year 3. The apprenticeship includes supervised work-based projects, a synoptic end-point assessment composed of a project and a presentation, and practical training in the university's computing and cyber security labs at Park Campus, Cheltenham.

Apprentices receive learner support including a personal tutor, learner coach, and apprenticeship support for employers. Learner benefits include access to university facilities, an NUS card, and discounted travel with Stagecoach across the South West network.
