Get Ahead from Newcastle University is a series of short online evening sessions in April 2026 designed to introduce prospective undergraduates to university study, student life and employability. Sessions include subject taster mini-lectures, interactive challenges, virtual facility tours, and panels with current students to help attendees learn new skills, ask questions and get a realistic feel for studying at Newcastle.
Specific online events in April 2026 include: "Get Ahead: Course, Employability and Enterprise" (14 April 2026) focusing on enterprise and employability skills with an interactive challenge; "Get Ahead: Parents and Supporters" (15 April 2026) which explains the application process, student finance and widening access programmes; and "Get Ahead: Student Life and Study Essentials" (21 April 2026) covering academic study skills and student life.
The programme is interactive and aims to boost study skills, provide information about university courses and careers, and give attendees the chance to meet student ambassadors. Sign-up is via the form on the page.
These sessions are delivered online and are aimed at Year 12 students considering higher education (and their parents/supporters for the dedicated session).
