Curious what studying philosophy at uni is like? Join Newcastle University's on‑campus taster day (4 June) to sample lectures on existentialism, explore student life and meet current students and recent graduates — build critical thinking, boost your uni application and see if it fits you.
The Newcastle University Philosophy Experience Day is an on-campus taster event aimed at Year 12 students interested in pursuing a degree in Philosophy. The event on 4 June 2026 gives pupils a chance to experience university life, sample academic teaching, and meet current students and recent graduates.
The provisional timetable runs from arrival at 09:30 through to 14:30 and includes a welcome and student life talk, two academic taster sessions (Introduction to Existentialism and Introduction to Aesthetics), a campus tour, and lunch. The day is intended to provide an academic taste of studying Philosophy alongside opportunities to explore the campus and ask questions of staff and students.
There are approximately 100 places available; if the event is oversubscribed, places may be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis and a follow-up event may be offered for those who cannot be accommodated. Teachers can complete the booking form provided on the university page.
