Newmusiconthebayou’s 2027 Call for Scores invites composers to submit original works for consideration in the festival programme. Submissions are open across a wide range of ensemble types, including duos, trios, brass and percussion ensembles, solo or mixed ensemble works, digital media pieces, live improvisatory works, and installation-based sound art.
The selection process is anonymous and uses outside adjudicators, with composers asked to remove names from scores and recordings. Works of any length are eligible, although shorter pieces are prioritised, and recent compositions are encouraged.
Applicants must provide computer-generated PDF parts, and transposing scores should be supplied where relevant. Selected composers are expected to attend in person, with a small number of virtual slots available for international applicants.
The festival takes place in Monroe and Ruston, Louisiana, and the call includes prizes for winning and runner-up works, plus separate travel scholarship support for some festival participants.
