Explore clinical and non-clinical NHS roles through a placement whose length depends on your chosen ward or department. You’ll receive an induction and support, and travel and meal costs can be reimbursed up to the current maximum.
NHS Shetland offers clinical and non-clinical work experience placements for young people who want to learn more about careers in the NHS. The placements are designed to give students a better understanding of different roles across the organisation and to help them make informed choices about future career paths and University or College applications.
Placements depend on capacity in the relevant ward or department, so a place cannot always be guaranteed. The length of the placement also depends on the ward or department the student is interested in, rather than a fixed programme length.
Applicants are asked to complete the work experience application form and provide the supporting information requested.
Before starting, students must complete confidentiality paperwork, provide two references, and finish an Occupational Health questionnaire. NHS Shetland also says it will reimburse travel and meal costs up to its current maximum, and it provides an induction and support during the placement.
Travel and meal costs are reimbursed up to the current maximum.
