Get hands-on experience exploring council career pathways, seeing what a real workplace is like and asking about day-to-day tasks. Build teamwork, problem-solving and communication skills; opportunities span services across the county.
North Yorkshire Council’s work experience programme gives young people the chance to gain a real insight into the world of work and explore different career pathways. It is designed to help participants understand what a real workplace is like, ask questions and learn about the day-to-day tasks involved in a council role.
The placements aim to build confidence, skills and knowledge for future careers. Participants can develop transferable skills such as teamwork, problem solving and communication, while also getting hands-on experience and a clearer understanding of their chosen sector.
North Yorkshire Council offers a wide range of work experience opportunities across the county, although availability depends on the needs of the service and some roles may only be offered in certain locations. Interested students can search for current work experience vacancies and complete an Expression of Interest form to be considered for future opportunities.
Free to take part.
