Spend 2 to 5 days observing healthcare staff in a real setting, with placements supervised by people already working there. Explore services from physiotherapy and speech and language therapy to catering, portering and community hospital wards - watching and learning rather than doing hands-on clinical work.
Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust offers observational work experience placements in a real healthcare setting. The placements are designed for people who want to find out what it is like to work in healthcare, and they are supervised by staff already working in the environment.
They are observational only, so the focus is on watching and learning rather than doing hands-on clinical work.
Placements are usually 2 to 5 days long and are arranged on a first come, first served basis, depending on service needs at the time. They are open to people aged 16 and over, although some services have a minimum age of 18.
The Trust also asks applicants to complete an application form, provide right to work documentation and a passport-sized photo, and confirm they have read the training handbook.
Opportunities are available across a range of services, including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, main reception, catering, portering, human resources, podiatry, speech and language therapy, dental services, and community hospital inpatient wards. The placement can help young people think about careers in health and care, understand workplace standards, and explore possible future routes into healthcare.
Unpaid.
