Make a portable personal altar with Nottingham-based artist and witch Wingshan, using painting, hand-stitching, herbs, fabric and found materials. Explore ritual, landscapes and cyclical change, with no experience needed - and bring items you’d like to include.

Join Nottingham-based artist and witch Wingshan for a gentle, hands-on workshop exploring ritual as artistic practice. Taking inspiration from Sarah Cunningham’s paintings and their connections with landscapes and the natural world, the session invites young people to think about creativity, meaning-making and the role of ritual in everyday life.

Participants will work with pre-made padded textile altars and use painting, hand-stitching, herbs, fabric and small found materials to create a portable personal altar. The workshop encourages experimentation with colour, materials and objects, and explores themes such as seasons, elements, animism and cyclical change.

No previous painting or sewing experience is needed, and participants are welcome to bring items they would like to include in their altar.
