Artist Martin Clarkson leads a slow-paced walkthrough of Sarah Cunningham’s exhibition, sharing stories from their friendship and reflections on her painting practice. Pause in the galleries to explore themes of nature, trees, deep time and our connections with the more-than-human world.
Join artist Martin Clarkson for a guided walkthrough of Nottingham Contemporary's autumn exhibition, Midnight Sun, which presents the work of the late Nottingham-born artist Sarah Cunningham. Martin will take visitors through the galleries, sharing stories about his friendship with Sarah, reflecting on her painting practice, and highlighting the energy, imagination and visual richness of her painterly worlds.
The session also explores the themes that run through the exhibition, including nature, trees, deep time and the idea of interconnectedness with the more-than-human world. It is designed as a slow-paced gallery visit with space to pause and reflect, making it suitable for visitors who want a thoughtful introduction to the exhibition as well as those already familiar with Sarah Cunningham's work.
