Build a planet’s past, map its present and imagine its future through a hands-on worldbuilding game with local artist Millie Quick. Use illustration, discussion and creative writing to draw on science and society - and take home a complimentary copy of the game.
Grow your own planet with local artist Millie Quick is a relaxed, hands-on workshop set inside Sarah Cunningham’s Midnight Sun exhibition at Nottingham Contemporary. Participants are invited to learn and play a worldbuilding game that uses prompts and choices to help shape a planet’s past, map its present and imagine its future.
Using illustration, discussion and creative writing, the session explores how cartography, biohistory, sociology, geology, biology, society and technology can inspire fiction. It is aimed at storytellers, artists, writers, GameMasters and anyone curious about making imaginative worlds, and no previous experience is needed.
Materials for drawing and writing are provided, and participants can work in as much or as little detail as they like. Everyone receives a complimentary copy of the game afterwards, making it easy to continue the creative process at home.
The event takes place in the gallery and is wheelchair accessible.
