Online Engineering Preparation 15-18

This online Engineering Preparation summer course (ages 15-18) gives senior high school students a rigorous introduction to multiple engineering disciplines and the mathematics that underpins them. Delivered remotely via Google Classroom, Adobe Connect and Zoom/Microsoft Meeting, the programme combines taught lessons, guest talks and interactive workshops.

It is intended for students considering or preparing to study engineering at university and covers foundations across civil, mechanical, aeronautical, electrical and materials engineering.

The course emphasises practical project work: students receive engineering kits in advance (mini drone, Arduino starter kit, Makeblock mBot, fuel cell/hydro car, combustion/jet engine kits) and take part in labs and build sessions. Maths content includes algebra, calculus (intermediate to advanced), trigonometry, statistics and differential equations.

The programme also includes 1:2:1 tutor time, guest lectures, and an admissions talk by a university admissions officer to support university applications.

Participants earn 3. 5 credits and receive a detailed report and graduation certificate. The course is suitable for IB, A-level or equivalent Sixth Form students (UK and international) and is designed to challenge motivated students and strengthen their preparation for first-year university engineering study.
