Optical Assistant Apprenticeship - Matlock Specsavers

This Level 3 Optical Assistant apprenticeship at the Specsavers store in Matlock gives apprentices the chance to start a career in optics while earning a full-time wage. Day-to-day duties include welcoming customers, booking eye tests, pre-screening patients, measuring and fitting frames, processing orders and payments, and advising customers on lens and frame options.

The role emphasises customer service, accurate record-keeping and safe use of optical equipment. Training is delivered primarily on-the-job in store with the training provider listed as SPECSAVERS OPTICAL SUPERSTORES LIMITED.

The programme follows the Level 3 Optical Assistant Apprenticeship Standard, includes Functional Skills in English if required, and concludes with an End-Point Assessment (EPA). The apprenticeship is full-time (38 hours per week) including weekend working, starts on 5 March 2026, and lasts approximately 1 year 6 months.

On completion, apprentices will achieve a Level 3 Optical Assistant qualification and be equipped for a range of roles within optics and retail healthcare. Applicants are asked to consider the advertised salary and confirm they can travel to the Matlock store daily.
