Ackers Adventure Trust is recruiting Outdoor Activity Instructor Apprentices to work at their outdoor activity centre in Birmingham. While employed at the centre you will spend most of your time learning on the job and working towards a Level 3 Outdoor Activity Instructor qualification.
The role includes hands-on delivery and support across a wide range of activities such as snowsports, watersports and other land-based sessions.
Typical duties include observing and assisting with activities leading to independent authorisation, assisting with centre tasks (equipment care, site maintenance, tuck shop), customer care, and completing apprenticeship work. You will also work towards additional training and certifications such as first aid, safeguarding, health & safety, and national governing body awards (e.
g. British Canoeing awards, climbing wall assistant qualifications). The apprenticeship is supported by Channel Training Limited.
Practical details: the apprenticeship is based at Golden Hillock Road, Sparkbrook, Birmingham B11 2PY. The post is 40 hours per week with shifts to be confirmed (may include evenings and weekends). The wage is £15,704 for the first year.
Start date is Monday 2 February 2026, duration 1 year 1 month, and there are 2 positions available.
