Want to turn tired clothes into unique pieces? Join Oxfam's hands-on workshop to learn visible mending and sashiko-inspired stitching, build practical repair skills, and customise denim or linen. Bring an item or use provided materials — make something creative, mindful and useful.

Join this relaxed, hands-on workshop to explore visible mending as a creative way to repair clothing and textiles. The session introduces beginners to sashiko-inspired stitching techniques and shows how worn or tired items can be transformed into something distinctive through simple, mindful making.

Participants are welcome to bring a garment or textile item they would like to mend, such as denim, cotton or linen, but this is optional. Fabric samples and all basic materials and equipment will be provided, so everyone can practise during the session even if they arrive without something to repair.

The workshop is designed to be welcoming and practical, with no previous sewing or embroidery experience required. Alongside the stitching skills, the event highlights sustainability, creativity and the idea that repair can become part of a garment’s design.

It is a small-group, in-person session with limited places, and attendees can expect a supportive environment that encourages experimentation, confidence and slow fashion thinking.
