See Euripides’ tragedy reimagined with Celtic-inspired sound and design, evoking Aulis’s isolation and the play’s tensions around war, sacrifice and identity. You can also register for free pre-show lectures from Oxford Classics Faculty, open to everyone.
Oxford Classical Drama Society’s triennial Greek play presents Euripides’ Iphigenia at Aulis at the Oxford Playhouse. The production reimagines the tragedy of Agamemnon, Clytemnestra and Iphigenia, with a creative vision that uses Celtic-inspired aesthetics in both sound and design to evoke Aulis’s rural isolation and the play’s tensions around war, sacrifice and identity.
The run takes place over several performances, including evening shows and matinees. In addition to the production itself, the page advertises a series of free pre-show lectures delivered by members of Oxford’s Classics Faculty.
These talks are open to everyone, whether or not they are attending the play, and registration is required in advance.
