Oxford High School awards a number of Year 9 (13+) scholarships and exhibitions in Academic subjects, Art (and Textiles), Drama, Music and Sport. Scholarships are awarded annually on merit and, for Academic Scholarships, all candidates who have received a Year 9 place offer will be considered.

Scholarships are held throughout a pupil’s time at the school, subject to satisfactory progress and conduct.

Application requirements vary by scholarship type. Art applicants must submit a letter of application, CV and a portfolio; Drama applicants provide a letter, CV and a short video performance (with any speech and drama certificates where applicable); Music applicants submit a letter, CV, video performance, evidence of exam achievement and contact details for two referees; Sport applicants must be County level or above and supply a sporting CV and evidence of representative honours.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to auditions, interviews or assessments as appropriate. See the Year 9 Scholarships booklet and the school's Key Admissions Dates for exact scholarship dates and further instructions.

  • Academic Scholarships: all candidates who have received a Year 9 place offer will be considered for Academic Scholarships.
  • Each candidate may apply for a maximum of two scholarship categories.
  • Art candidates: submit a letter of application, CV and a portfolio of best artwork; shortlisted candidates invited to interview.
  • Drama candidates: submit a letter of application, CV and a short video performance; copies of any speech and drama certificates should be provided where available; shortlisted candidates invited to an audition and interview.
  • Music candidates: submit a letter of application, CV and a video performance; provide evidence of examination grades or performance standard and two referees; shortlisted candidates invited to audition and interview.
  • Sport candidates must be County level or above; submit a letter of application and a sporting CV including representative honours and evidence of achievement; shortlisted candidates may be required to attend an on-site sports assessment.
