The Experience Medicine Academy is a two-week residential summer course run by Oxford Scholastica Academy on the Oxford University campus. Designed for students aged 15-18, the programme develops clinical skills, introduces medical specialties (including cardiology, respiratory medicine, surgery and emergency care) and gives practical experience through the Hospital Challenge where participants meet patients at the John Radcliffe Hospital.
Teaching is delivered by tutors typically from leading universities such as Oxford and Cambridge and includes hands-on sessions (stethoscope use, measuring blood pressure, basic clinical procedures), medical ethics debates, anatomy and case-based learning. The course culminates in assessments, a graduation ceremony with a Certificate of Achievement and opportunities to receive a personalised Letter of Recommendation.
Students also take part in cultural and social activities to experience university life in Oxford.
