Ready to tackle climate challenges at Oxford? Join a two‑week, small‑group summer school to explore climate science, ecosystems and policy through tutorial-style learning. Build data analysis and critical thinking skills, connect with experts and strengthen your uni and career prospects.

Oxford Summer Courses' Environmental Science summer school is a two-week, small-group academic programme hosted in Oxford University colleges and designed for ambitious 16-17 year olds. Teaching follows an Oxford tutorial style with seminars and tutorials capped at very small group sizes (often 8 students or fewer).

The course explores climate change, ecosystems, pollution, sustainability and the political and economic contexts of environmental challenges, combining data-based discussion, case studies, independent work and expert guest speakers. Students complete two pieces of independent work which are evaluated and discussed in 1:1 or 2:1 tutorials and attend academic-skills masterclasses.

The programme includes college visits, excursions and a university fair to explore future study pathways. On completion participants receive a certificate of achievement and a personalised letter of recommendation from their tutor to support future applications.

Accommodation and catering options are offered across several tiers (Non-residential, Plus, Superior, Premier) with differing inclusions. Meals are typically half-board for ages 16-24; some tiers include airport transfer and insurance.

There are multiple course dates in summer 2026 and applicants are encouraged to apply early as spaces are limited.
