The apprenticeship includes a 2-year distance learning programme with the University of East Anglia leading to a Certificate of Higher Education in Pharmacy Technician Practice and supports professional registration as a pharmacy technician. The role combines workplace training, virtual study sessions for coursework, and assessed practical responsibilities aligned with NHS practice and standards.

  • Minimum 4 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above including Maths, English and Science (or combined science award with one qualification at C/4 or above plus another GCSE).
  • Maths and English Functional Skills Level 2 accepted as alternatives to GCSEs in those subjects.
  • NVQ2 in pharmacy is not an alternative to the academic GCSE requirements.
  • Applicants must produce original copies of certificates at interview; non-UK qualifications must have a statement of comparability.
  • Pharmacy experience desirable but not essential.
  • Role is subject to Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act exceptions.

£27,485 - £30,162 Annex 21 70% top of band 4 for year 1, and 75% for year 2 (NHS AfC: Band 4).
