Spend four days in Children’s Outpatients seeing how paediatric nurses communicate with children and families, take and record observations, and work with wider clinical teams. You’ll also observe venepuncture and see the multi-agency team in clinics and on the children’s ward.

This four-day placement in Children's Outpatients gives participants the chance to see what a career in child nursing could involve. It offers direct exposure to the clinical environment, the chance to interact with children and their families, and the opportunity to observe how nurses and wider clinical teams work in practice.

The placement includes observing communication with children and families, taking and recording observations, venepuncture, and working with the multi-agency team in clinics and on the children’s ward. It is also designed to support university applications by helping participants understand the realities of paediatric nursing and the skills needed for the role.
