This Paramedic Degree Apprenticeship is offered by University Centre Weston in partnership with the South Western Ambulance Service Trust (SWAST) and the University of Worcester. The programme is accredited and approved by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IfATE).
On successful completion apprentices will be eligible to apply to register with the HCPC as a Registered Paramedic.
Teaching combines classroom learning with specifically designed skills sessions and simulation. Modules listed on the course include Anatomy and Physiology, Applied Sciences for Paramedics, Person-centred Paramedic Practice, Skills, Simulation and Professional Practice, Leadership, and Complex Decision-making in Paramedic Practice.
The programme aims to develop the knowledge, skills, values and behaviours required to work as a practising paramedic in the NHS.
Practical details: the course duration is two years with a stated start date of October 2026 and delivery at the Winter Gardens (Winter Gardens Campus). Places on the apprenticeship are decided by the employer (SWAST); applicants are directed to apply through the South Western Ambulance Service Trust recruitment pages and currently need to be employed by SWAST to undertake this Level 6 apprenticeship.
