This is a pre-college summer program at UCLA designed to introduce high school students to personal finance and investing. The course covers investment basics (stocks, bonds, savings), market distinctions (e.
g. , NYSE vs NASDAQ), interest rates, corporate financial planning, and practical risk-assessment exercises using simulated investments. Classes combine university-level instruction with hands-on exercises to build foundational financial literacy and investing confidence.
The program runs on the UCLA campus as part of the Summer Institute UCLA environment, offering both day and residential (boarding) options. Students receive instructor feedback, detailed performance reports, and a Course Completion Certificate.
The environment includes structured daily schedules, supervised residential life, supervised off-campus trips, and enrichment activities to complement academic learning. Admission requires completion of the Summer Institute application.
International students receive visa support and may be charged an international registration fee which covers visa assistance, arrival/departure transportation, and international student medical insurance.

Day option (2 weeks): £3,345. Boarding (2 weeks): £5,575. International registration fee (U.S. programs): $379 (residential) OR $239 (commuter). Tuition includes academic tuition, housing for residential programs, two meals per day (lunch and dinner), selected excursions/activities, and some on-campus transportation.
