See how an MP’s office works by researching local issues, helping with casework, writing press releases or answering constituents’ queries by phone or email.

Peter Bedford offers work experience placements for students from the constituency who want to learn more about local politics and build practical skills. The placement is designed to give young people a better understanding of how an MP’s office works and the kinds of issues that come through from constituents and the wider community.

During the placement, students may take part in a range of tasks depending on their age and ability. These can include casework, researching an issue, taking press cuttings, writing press releases, assisting with office duties, and answering queries from constituents by phone or email.

Students may also accompany the MP to a meeting or event in the House or in the constituency. Anyone interested in the opportunity should contact the office to enquire about work experience.
