Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust offers work experience placements for young people interested in careers in health and care. The programme is designed to give participants an introduction to the wide range of roles found across the NHS, from clinical settings to vital support services behind the scenes.

Placements are available in areas such as diabetes, pharmacy, IT, rostering, adult emergency care, respiratory physiology, dental nursing, simulation, AMU, the discharge unit, surgical outpatients and audiology. Successful applicants complete an induction as part of their experience and are encouraged to do some online work-related learning before they start.

The programme is competitive and places are limited, so applying does not guarantee a place. Placements are based mainly at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham, with some opportunities at Lakeside North Harbour. Travel is not provided, and applicants should be prepared to arrange their own transport.
