The University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School Pre-College Academy is a three-week summer programme for high-school students (ages 14-018) who want an early, immersive experience of law school. Held on the Penn Carey Law campus in Philadelphia, the programme delivers a condensed first-year law curriculum during the first two weeks followed by specialised modules in the third week (e.
g. , corporate, environmental, intellectual property, immigration, and trial practice). Instruction is provided by Penn faculty and legal professionals and includes practical exercises such as oral arguments, contract negotiation practice, and mock trials.
Students attend weekday classes (typical schedule 9:00 AM 03:00 PM) and can choose residential (boarding) or day options. The programme includes supervised campus life, structured extracurricular activities, site visits (including federal courthouses), and student performance reports at the end of the course.
International students are supported with visa guidance (B-2 or ESTA as applicable) and there are separate international fees/policies described for participants from abroad.
Admission is selective and based on application materials and essays; applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. The academy is aimed at students exploring legal careers and seeking college-preparatory enrichment in law, advocacy, and legal reasoning.
