A week-long NHS work experience course for those planning to go on to medical school, and for applicants interested in other clinical or non-clinical roles within the NHS. It is designed to give a realistic insight into hospital and surgery settings, helping students build confidence, learn how teams work together and see how patient care is delivered.
Placement activities can include visiting theatres, attending clinics and ward rounds, seeing simulated patients, speaking with doctors and medical students, and hearing from medical educationalists about training and applying to medical school. The placement is supervised and controlled, with a strong emphasis on observing professional practice and understanding the route into medicine.
