Yorkshire Ambulance Service is recruiting a PTS Apprentice Call Handler to join its Patient Transport Service (PTS) team in Wakefield. The role is office-based and involves being the first point of contact for patients, carers and healthcare professionals arranging NHS-funded transport to and from healthcare appointments.
You will record booking information accurately into the booking system and use standard question sets to ensure appropriate transport is provided.
This is a 15-month fixed-term apprenticeship combining on-the-job experience with 20% study time at Barnsley College to achieve a Customer Service Practitioner Level 2 NVQ. The post is full time (37. 5 hours per week) with shift rotations across standard coverage hours; apprentices work on a rotation pattern with public holidays off.
The Trust values strong communication skills, IT literacy and the ability to handle confidential information.
The salary is £19,948.50 per annum (pro rata) paid under annex 21 arrangements. Some posts may require DBS checks (fees may be recovered as described). Applicants should follow the application guidance and demonstrate how they meet the person specification when applying.
