Raindance’s Script Competition invites emerging screenwriters to submit original short, feature, and television scripts for review by industry specialists. The competition is built to champion independent storytelling and to create visibility for writers whose work is ready to be discovered by the film and television industry.
Entries progress through judging stages that include quarterfinalists, semifinalists, and finalists, with the final shortlist named to The Raindance Discovery List. Selected scripts are shared with production companies and industry partners, and winners are chosen in each category.
The competition also aims to protect writers’ ownership of their work while creating opportunities for networking, recognition, and possible future collaboration.

Location
- Writers from all countries are eligible to submit.
- Scripts must be submitted in English, or include a full English translation.
- Raindance employees and their immediate family members are not eligible to enter.
- Scripts must be the original work of the writer(s), who must hold full legal ownership of the material.
- Adaptations are permitted only if the submitting writer(s) hold the legal rights to adapt the underlying material.
- Scripts must be unproduced at the time of submission; scripts scheduled to enter production after the awards ceremony remain eligible.
- There is no limit to the number of scripts a writer may submit, but each submission requires a separate entry fee.
- Resubmissions of the same material are permitted, but require a new entry fee.
- All submissions must be made electronically.
- Scripts that placed in the top three of previous Raindance Script Competitions are not eligible to re-enter.
- All scripts must be submitted in PDF format and follow industry-standard screenplay formatting (12-point Courier font).
- Co-written scripts are permitted, but all writers must be credited at the time of submission.
- Written feedback is not provided unless selected and purchased at the time of submission.
- If a script contains graphic or potentially triggering content, an appropriate content or trigger warning must be provided.
- By submitting, the writer confirms permission from all co-writers and any attached parties to submit the script.
