Help with casework, research issues and write press releases while seeing how an MP’s office works. Depending on your age and ability, you could accompany the MP to a meeting or event in the House or constituency, or answer constituents’ queries by phone or email.
Richard Holden offers work experience opportunities for students from the constituency who want to learn more about local politics and build practical skills. The placement is designed to give young people an insight into the day-to-day work of an MP’s office and the wider political process, while offering a chance to gain experience in a professional environment.
Students may be asked to help with a range of tasks depending on their age and ability. These can include casework, researching an issue, taking press cuttings, writing press releases, accompanying the MP to a meeting or event in the House or in the constituency, assisting with office duties, and answering queries from constituents by phone or email.
Interested students should contact the office to enquire about work experience.
