Christian Foster, the airport’s managing director, explains how a closed airport is being brought back into use. Explore the revival’s practical challenges: regulation, funding, rebuilding the operational team, and recertifying the aerodrome and its airspace.
Royal Aeronautical Society Sheffield Branch hosts an evening lecture on the reopening of Doncaster Sheffield Airport. Christian Foster, Managing Director of Doncaster Sheffield Airport, shares the story of how a closed regional airport is being brought back into use and what that means for South Yorkshire’s aviation future.
The talk explores the practical side of the revival, including regulation, funding, rebuilding the operational team, and recertifying the aerodrome and its airspace. It also looks at the airport’s commercial plans, from passenger airlines and freight to a new investment zone.
The event includes registration and networking before the lecture, and it is suitable for anyone interested in aviation, infrastructure and regional development. CPD certificates of attendance are available for CEng, IEng or EngTech registration.
