Students aged 16 and over can explore areas that interest them through bespoke placements, from a half-day tour to a week shadowing staff, depending on department capacity. Discover clinical and non-clinical work in an acute healthcare setting.

Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust offers work experience for young people considering a career in health. The programme includes both clinical and non-clinical opportunities, along with information sessions designed to inspire and support students as they explore different career paths.

Participants may shadow colleagues and gain a better understanding of what it is like to work in an acute healthcare setting.

For younger students, the trust runs Year 10 work experience weeks during the summer term. These are classroom-based and include interactive sessions with health professionals, time in the simulation ward, tours of clinical areas, and contact with other health and social care providers in the county.

For students aged 16 and over, the trust can offer more bespoke placements in areas of interest, with experiences ranging from a half-day tour to a week of shadowing depending on department capacity. Information sessions are also offered throughout the year, and applications are handled through a centralised process.
