Royal Holloway's Classics Taster Day offers school students a day of mini-lectures and interactive sessions introducing classical literature, history and reception under the theme 'Gods and Women in the Ancient World'. The programme includes talks on Helen in the mythic tradition, Virgil's depiction of Dido, the spread and significance of Isis, and a Q&A session on studying Classics at university and related career pathways.
The event runs Thursday 2 July 2026 from 10:30 to 15:30 (local time) in the Shilling Auditorium on Royal Holloway's Egham campus. Sessions are delivered by departmental staff and include an optional mini campus tour with student ambassadors and opportunities for brief one-to-one discussions with academic staff.
No prior Classics study is required. Participants should register via the Eventbrite link; for enquiries contact the event organiser (Dr Efi Spentzou) by email.
