Spend a week diving into the world of robotics and artificial intelligence in a hands-on holiday workshop run by the Royal Institution. Guided by experts Professor Rustam Stolkin and Peter Brewer, participants will work in teams to invent, design, build, program and demonstrate a remote-controlled underwater retrieval robot.
Interactive build sessions are combined with short talks and group discussion, introducing key ideas in robotics and AI and exploring the mathematics, physics, engineering and computing that underpin the practical work. This workshop is for students who have just completed Years 11, 12 or 13 (typically aged around 15-18).
Students should bring a packed lunch and a drink; the workshop includes a 30-minute unsupervised lunch break (students aged 15-18 may leave the building during lunch if permission is given at booking). Bookings are made via Eventbrite; Eventbrite adds a small booking fee and the Royal Institution's ticket prices range from £3 (members/concessions) to £20.
