Fancy building your portfolio and cutting school fees? Join Royal Russell’s Art Scholarship to develop Fine Art or Photography at A-level, showcase work in department events, connect with tutors and boost your art-school or career prospects.

The Royal Russell School Art Scholarship provides a percentage reduction in school fees for the period of tenure. Recipients are expected to contribute actively to the life of the Art Department, make constructive use of their art skills, and take part in department events.

The department offers Fine Art and Photography at A level and supports pupils aiming for Art School progression.

Art Scholarships are awarded in Year 7, Year 9 and Year 12 and are reviewed annually. Candidates for Years 7 and 9 should demonstrate particular aptitude through school/club work and home practice and submit a portfolio (suggested 10-20 pieces).

Selected candidates will be invited to a practical assessment. Sixth Form applicants complete an application form, attend an interview with the Head of Art with a portfolio, and should be prepared to discuss the work of a leading artist of their choice.

Offers are conditional on the relevant academic entrance exam (Years 7/9) or GCSE results (Year 12).
