The RVC Pre-Vet Summer School is a 13-day residential programme that immerses participants in veterinary pathways and the veterinary profession across RVC’s Hawkshead (Hatfield) and Camden (London) campuses. The course combines university-level lectures from RVC academics, practical clinical skills training, group-led teaching and a research project, giving students a realistic view of life as an RVC student.
Students undertake placements across RVC clinical and practical animal-handling facilities (including the Queen Mother Hospital for Animals, Beaumont Sainsbury Animal Hospital, Equine Referral Hospital and Boltons Park Farm), typically gaining between 25 and 30 hours that can be used as work experience for applications. The programme also includes a curated social programme and a Student Ambassador mentor to support academic and professional development.
The course is competitive (around 50 places). Applications will be assessed against achieved/predicted grades for RVC undergraduate pathways and require a supporting reference. The programme is residential; scholarships (three full fee waivers) are awarded to the strongest applicants.
The programme fee is TBC and does not include travel to/from the Summer School, though Heathrow collection/drop-off is provided if required.
