Inspiring Scientists at Cambridge is a free work experience programme for Year 12 students who are interested in science, research and medicine. It is delivered by the Sainsbury Laboratory Cambridge University in partnership with Cambridge Institute for Medical Research, MRC Mitochondrial Biology Unit and the Institute of Metabolic Science.
The programme runs during the February half-term break and gives students the chance to experience life as a researcher. Participants work alongside scientists in active laboratories, build practical skills, attend seminars and workshops, and gain a realistic insight into university study and scientific careers.
At the Sainsbury Laboratory, students explore how plant scientists investigate plant growth, development and interactions with the environment. They also meet researchers and postgraduate students, visit research facilities, tour a University of Cambridge college, and hear about university applications and student life.
