JPL Flavour Technologies is recruiting a Samples Technician Apprentice to join its busy Samples department in Neston. The role involves preparing and compounding flavour samples for internal use and for customers, collecting samples from stock, packaging and dispatching samples, liaising with QC and Applications for testing, using laboratory equipment and internal systems, and maintaining the lab samples index and good housekeeping.

This is a Level 3 Laboratory Technician apprenticeship delivered with Wirral Metropolitan College. Apprentices will spend most of their time working on the job with additional specialist training off the job, studying the Level 3 Laboratory Technician standard (knowledge, skills & behaviours and end-point assessment).

Typical tasks include laboratory experiments and tests (weighing, pipetting, filtration, spectroscopy, chromatography), use and maintenance of laboratory instruments, record keeping, and basic data presentation and analysis.

The apprenticeship starts 17 December 2025, runs for two years, and is full-time (37 hours per week, Monday to Friday; shift options include 9:00-17:00 or 8:30-16:30). There is the possibility of a full-time position on successful completion.

Pay & Benefits

£14,526.20 to £23,492.04, depending on your age. National Minimum Wage applies.
