The 10 highest-scoring entries are invited to the Final.
Finalists attend an in-person problem-solving challenge at Burlington House, Piccadilly, London, where teams tackle a geology-themed real-world problem, demonstrate teamwork and analytical skills, and present to a panel of judges. Travel reimbursement of up to £700 is available for finalists.
The competition offers prizes including a trophy, school funds (£500 for winners, £200 for runners-up), student memberships and certificates.
Teachers can download a PowerPoint to promote the competition and the full competition brief and rules are provided on The Geological Society website. Entries must be submitted via the online entry form and follow the competition brief; one entry per team is permitted.
