Hear economists, entrepreneurs and Oxford academics debate how policy, business and individual choices could shape a fairer economy. Explore ideas from de-growth to middle-out economics, then experience artist Maija Tammi’s video installation.

This public event brings together economists, entrepreneurs and Oxford academics to explore how societies might respond to inequality in practice. The discussion moves beyond diagnosis to ask what a fairer economy would require from policy, business and individual choice, with attention to how markets are shaped by human decisions and institutions.

The conversation features Eric Beinhocker, Nick Hanauer and Jason Hickel, alongside Oxford academics, and is co-hosted by Oxford Ministry for the Future, the Environmental Humanities Research Hub and INET. It offers a chance to hear different perspectives on inequality, the trade-offs involved in change, and the ideas behind alternative economic approaches such as de-growth and middle-out economics.

Alongside the talk, attendees can experience a video installation by artist Maija Tammi and connect with others from academia, the arts and civil society. The event forms part of a wider interdisciplinary programme exploring the social, political and cultural questions linked to inequality and future economic systems.
